We've all been there โ one too many sprays and suddenly you're a walking fragrance cloud. Here's what happens and what to do about it.
What Happens
Over-application creates olfactory assault for everyone in your vicinity. What smells pleasant at 2 sprays becomes suffocating at 6. Strong fragrances in enclosed spaces (cars, offices, elevators) can trigger headaches, nausea, and irritation in others. You won't notice because nose blindness kicks in quickly โ but everyone else will.
How to Fix It
Rubbing alcohol: Dab rubbing alcohol on the over-sprayed areas with a cotton pad. It breaks down fragrance oils quickly.
Unscented soap: Wash the sprayed areas with unscented soap and warm water. Won't eliminate it entirely but reduces intensity significantly.
Time and air: Step outside. Fresh air and time will naturally reduce the concentration.
Prevention
The right amount: 2 sprays for office/daytime, 3-4 for social/evening. If you can smell your own cologne strongly after 30 minutes, you've used too much. Start with fewer sprays โ you can always add one more, but you can't take one back.
