Where and how you spray cologne matters more than most people realize. The right application can double your fragrance's performance. The wrong application can waste it entirely.
The Best Spray Spots
Neck (sides): The #1 spot. Warm skin, close to where people lean in during conversation and hugs. One spray on each side of the neck is the foundation of any application.
Chest/collarbone: One spray on the center of your chest, under your shirt. The fabric traps the scent and releases it gradually throughout the day. This is the "secret weapon" spray that fragrance enthusiasts swear by.
Wrists (optional): Classic spot, but don't rub your wrists together โ this breaks down the fragrance molecules and shortens longevity. Spray, let it dry naturally.
How Many Sprays
2-4 sprays is the sweet spot for most fragrances. Strong performers like Sauvage Elixir or Stronger With You Intensely need only 2. Lighter fragrances like Cool Water or Eau Fraiche can handle 4-5. When in doubt, less is more. You should leave a trail, not a cloud.
Common Mistakes
Spraying on clothes: Works for some fragrances but can stain fabrics and the scent develops differently on fabric vs. skin. Skin is always better.
Spraying and walking through: Wastes 80% of the juice into the air. Direct application to skin is far more effective.
Rubbing wrists together: Crushes the top notes and accelerates evaporation. Just don't.
Spraying in hair: Alcohol dries out hair. If you want scent in your hair, spray your brush or comb instead.
