Glass atomizer vials are reusable if you clean them properly. Here's the step-by-step process for removing old fragrance and prepping for a refill.
What You Need
Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), warm water, a small funnel, and paper towels. That's it.
The Cleaning Process
Step 1: Remove the spray mechanism by gently pulling or twisting it off. Most atomizer tops snap off.
Step 2: Rinse the vial and spray tube with warm water to remove residual fragrance. Shake out excess water.
Step 3: Fill the vial halfway with isopropyl alcohol. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Empty and repeat.
Step 4: Rinse with warm water one final time. Let air dry completely (upside down on a paper towel for 24 hours).
Step 5: Reassemble. The vial is ready for a new fragrance.
Important Notes
Some fragrances stain glass, especially darker oud-based scents. If the vial retains a yellow tint after cleaning, it's cosmetic and won't affect the next fragrance. Never use soap — soap residue will contaminate the next fragrance. And always let the vial dry completely before refilling.
