How to Organize Your Fragrance Collection

Once you have more than 10 bottles and a handful of decants, things get chaotic fast. Here's how to organize your collection so you actually use everything you own.

Organize by Season

Group your fragrances into warm weather (spring/summer) and cold weather (fall/winter). When the season changes, rotate the front row. This way you're not digging through winter colognes in July.

Use a Tray or Shelf System

A simple wooden or acrylic tray on your dresser keeps daily drivers within reach. Reserve a drawer or cabinet for the rest of the collection. Dark, cool storage is better than a bathroom shelf where heat and humidity degrade the juice.

Keep Decants Separate

Decants are your travel and testing rotation. Keep them in a small pouch or case away from full bottles. Label them clearly โ€” once a decant loses its label, you're playing fragrance roulette.

Track What You Own

Use a simple spreadsheet or an app like Parfumo to catalog your collection. Note the fragrance name, concentration, size, purchase date, and your personal rating. This prevents accidental re-buys and helps you identify gaps in your rotation.

The "Haven't Touched It" Rule

If you haven't reached for a fragrance in 6 months, ask yourself why. If you genuinely don't enjoy it, sell it or give it away. A smaller collection you love is better than a cluttered shelf of impulse buys.
